With the resignation of Board of Education President Ellen Dunn, Robert Penn was appointed to fill the empty seat on the Board.

Penn was sworn in at the February 17th Board meeting. “I’m really excited to be the newest member of the Board of Education and to see where this journey takes me,” says Penn.

It was announced on January 21st via South Lake Schools’ Facebook page that there would be interviews held to select the next Board Member. Interviews were later held on the 3rd and 4th.

“When I decided to apply, I sent in my cover letter and resume to the board” says Penn. “They called me for an interview and I guess they thought I was a good fit.”

Penn is enthusiastic and ready to get even more involved in the South Lake community. “I want to stay involved in the community and I want to do what I can to help South Lake Schools. I’d like to see the district build on its already strong foundation, retain students and attract new families.”
