Reviewing Starbucks

Starbucks coffee and specialty drinks get reviewed

Coffee can be a great way to kick-start your morning or to keep you functioning during your late nights of studying.  But why shouldn’t  you treat yourself to a decadent coffee drink whenever you feel like it?

The well known cafe-chain/coffee chain, Starbucks, has recently been growing in popularity.

This past weekend I tasted a few of the many drinks that Starbucks has to offer.

The first drink I tried was one of their holiday seasonal drinks; the Caramel Brûlée Latte.  I went in hoping to get that warm, cozy taste that reminds you of Christmas.  While it was a good drink to cozy up by the fire with, the flavors weren’t really anything that I associated with Christmas.

It was pleasantly creamy, but lacked caramel.  It was there but was very easy to miss. Caramel is right in the name of the drink, so I was expecting it to be more noticeable.

A positive thing I noticed about this drink was its rather subtle coffee flavor, which I personally enjoyed.

Over all, the Caramel Brûlée Latte was a good drink, that could even be enjoyed by non-coffee drinkers, but was only a mediocre holiday drink. I give it 3.5 stars out of 5.

The next drink that I tasted didn’t contain coffee, but was rather a Black Iced Tea Lemonade.  This one left me much more excited and satisfied than the first. This wonderfully refreshing drink reminded me a lot of summer and made me want to go lay out in the sun on the beach.

This Iced Tea Lemonade reminded me a lot of an Arnold Palmer, but much more natural and fresh.
The drink had a tart zing to it, adding to the refreshing taste. Also, the tea flavor itself wasn’t overwhelmingly strong.

The Black Iced Tea Lemonade was a really refreshing drink that gave me a pleasant reminder of summer.  This is something that I will definitely be ordering again.  I give it 5 stars!

Finally, I was excited to taste the Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate, but was quickly underwhelmed.
There was nothing wrong with it, but there was nothing exciting about it either.  It was just a regular cup of hot chocolate that I could have made at home.

I was especially disappointed, again, by the lack of caramel.  Without the caramel flavor, the drink was just average.  There was an obvious lack of saltiness as well.  You can’t call a drink salted caramel hot chocolate if the salt and caramel are only sprinkled on top.

Again, there was nothing bad or unpleasant about it, but I wouldn’t waste my money on something so unexciting, especially when they have so many  other great things to choose from.  I give this one 3 stars out of five.

Overall, I found the Starbucks drinks to be satisfying, but there is still room for improvement.

These are just a few of the numerous delicious drinks that Starbucks has to offer, and I can’t wait to taste some more. I will definitely be returning very soon.
