The Lancer and Shield welcome back students

The Lancer and the Shield would like to welcome everyone back for the new academic year! We hope everyone had a safe and fantastic summer!

Lots of exciting things have been happening with the Journalism program over the summer. The editorial staff has been dedicating their time to work side by side with the program Advisor Tim Allen to make many critical improvements to the program.

One of the major changes over the summer was moving back into the original Journalism classroom that housed the program since it began. Another major accomplishment was cleaning, furnishing and organizing the room in just a matter of three months!

Another big transition was shifting the class to a new operating system. With some encouragement from the editorial staff, the administration purchased 15 Apple iMac computers for the Journalism program. In addition, the students held a “Mac Drive” fundraiser to gather computer donations from community members.

In spite of all the improvements that have been made, there is still much to be done. The Lancer and Shield are looking forward to a new year filled with new challenges and achievements.
